In this regard, expert team has met with three government authorities including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Ministry of Interior, Department of Land Transport (DLT), Ministry of Transport and Thai Traffic Police, Royal Thai Police.
Discussions have concluded that two important areas to improve road safety in Thailand are 1) accident data analysis and 2) road user behaviors.
This project was proposed in the 15th AEM-MITI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) Annual Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia on 4-5 August 2014 by Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) Safety Committee, in response to the increasing number of automobile-related accidents in ASEAN countries.
For implementation, Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) are assigned to conduct the investigation of the cause of accidents initiatives and Road Safety Seminar in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Thailand Automotive Industry Association (TAIA) and Thai Motorcycle Enterprise Association (TMEA) are requested for support in providing advice and appointment coordination of key persons of relevant Thai government agencies.
